FECAFOOT Appoints 1990 World Cup Hero As U17 Coach. Former Indomitable Lions defender Ebwelle Bertin has been appointed to an interim role as part of the coaching staff of the under-17 indomitable lions of Cameroon.
Ebwelle Bertin Gets U17 Coaching Role
The appointment was made public on the 27th of March 2023 in a communique signed by Fecafoot President Samuel Eto’o Fils.
Bertin maintains his position as Under-15 head coach, a role he has occupied since August 2022. The experienced coach will bring His expertise to the U-17 Lions squad, whose head coach is incapacitated and undergoing treatment in France as the team prepares to defend their U-17 AFCON title in Algeria later this year.
Who is Ebwelle Bertin?
Ebwelle Bertin was born in 1962 in Yaounde and was part of the first golden generation of Indomitable who made great exploits in the 1990 world cup in Italy.
Upon retirement, the former left-back embarked on a coaching career that has seen him coach the likes of Tonnere of Yaounde and Tiko United, among others.
The former Coton Sports of Garoua manager has a great passion for youth development, evidenced by his involvement in many youth tournaments and amateur clubs, most notably Musango FC, a local football club where he is the leading promoter.
Coach Ebwelle has previous experience with this team. He was part of the 2015 and 2017 U-17 AFCON coaching staff.
