Weekend Report 2: Cameroonian Footballers Abroad

In our second edition, we will look at the performances of Cameroon’s indomitable Lions Captain Vincent Aboubakar, Bryan Nbuemo, Jean Charles Castelleto, Kude Malong, Martin Hongla, Malcom Bokele, Olivier Kemen, Steve Mvoue, and Enow Nkembe.

Let’s dive in:

  1. Aboubakar Vincent
The captain of the indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Mr. Aboubakar Vincent, can’t stop scoring. This weekend, his club Besiktas faced Giresunspor in an encounter in which his side beat them 3-1, and he scored a brace. His goal brings his tally to five goals in five matches for Besiktas.
  2. Bryan Mbeumo
The indomitable Lions winger’s side Brentford faced fellow premier league side Newcastle in a breathtaking encounter that saw them lose 2-1. This is their second loss in a row after their midweek loss to Manchester United. Bryan Mbeumo was introduced into the game in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he will not reverse the trend, and his team will bow to Newcastle United.
  3. Jean Charles Castelleto
His team Nantes had to come from behind to get a draw against Monaco. In this game, Jean Charles Castelleto lost his duel against Disasi of Monaco, which led to the game’s first goal. The first half of the game ended with Nantes losing 2-0 at the hands of Monaco. Luckily, goals from Mohamed 65th minute and Blas 78th minute of play got a draw for Nantes, who were living dangerously at the defense.
  4. Kunde Malong
Cameroonian Midfielder Kunde Malong’s team Bochum clashed with Stuttgart. These two sides are fighting for relegation though Kude Malong’s side is 6 points ahead of Stuttgart. This clash didn’t favor the indomitable Lions midfielder’s side, who lost 3-2 to Stuttgart. Kunde Malong started the match from the bench and was only introduced in the 85th minute to try and salvage a point for his side, which didn’t go as planned.
  5. Martin Hongla
This was a game to forget for the Cameroonian midfielder and his teammates. Despite a good match, Martin Hongla and Valladolid were trapped at the end of the game by Mallorca. Aligned in the middle in a sentinel role, the Cameroonian midfielder did the job against Mallorca. Too bad his club, which led 3-2 on this 28th day of La Liga, was caught at the end of the game following a handball call verified by VAR in the last minute of play. A penalty was awarded and converted by Muriqi. Real Valladolid occupies the 17th position in the league table, with only 2 points separating them from the relegation spot.
  6. Malcom Bokele
The Cameroonian international was at the center of a scuffle with Bastia striker Migouel Alfarela. An attitude that earned both players an expulsion at the end of the match (90th). The tension that shrouded at the end of Bordeaux – Bastia reverberated on social media, where a few misguided minds lashed out at Cameroonian and Bordeaux defender Malcom Bokele. Several messages of threats and insults, some of a racist nature, were sent to him on his Instagram account.
  7. Olivier Kemen
In the Turkish Cup, Olivier Kemen and his teammates were beaten 4-1 by Fenerbahce. Kayserispor was knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Turkish Cup on Thursday despite an assist from Olivier Kemen, which helped put them back in the game. But other goals from a strong Fenerbahce side who are second in the league table drowned and kicked them out of the competition.
  8. Steve Mvoue
Cameroonian international Steve Mvoué started at the kick-off for FC Seraing before giving up his place in the 68th minute. Fc Seraing only made 5 shots in the entire game, and none were on target, which saw them lose 2-0 in the hands of FC Bruges. This added more salt to the injury as Steve Mvoué and Fc Seraing will play in the Belgian second division next season.
  9. Enow Nkembe
Enow Nkembe is voted the best player of Entente Sportive Setifienne after scoring 2 goals in 3 matches for the Algerian Side. The former striker of AS Fortuna, who arrived last February, impressed on his debut with his side 3rd in the Algerian Championship.
