Cameroon has been drawn in Group D ahead of the qualification tournament for the 2026 FIFA world cup to take place in the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada.
FIFA World Cup 2026 CAF Qualifications: Cameroon Drawn in Group D
The draws were done a few hours after the 45th CAF Ordinary Assembly which held in Abidjan, the Capital city of Ivory Coast.
FIFA President, Gianni Infantino was in attendance for the congress which was chaired by CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
With 9 slots available for Africa ahead of the 2026 World Cup, all 54 member federations were present at the draws.
The teams were drawn following a seeding process, with top seeds like Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Tunisia, Mali, and Cameroon, all in pot one.
The indomitable Lions of Cameroon were drawn in Group D alongside Cape Verde, Angola, Libya, Eswatini, and Mauritius.

How Many African Teams Will Qualify The 2026 World Cup?
With a total of nine slots for Africa, each team is expected to play home and away matches. Group winners will automatic qualification to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The four best runners-up will get into play-offs that will determine the CAF representative at the inter-confederation play-offs.

The draws come at a time when African Nations are preparing for the TotalEnergies African Nations Cup to kickstart on the 13th of January 2024 in Ivory Coast.
The last round of qualification games for AFCON 2023 will be played in September 2023.
