In recent months, the Cameroonian football scene has been rocked by issues of identity fraud, especially involving Elite One and Two clubs with the constant controversies sparking widespread debate about the integrity and ethical standards in youth football in Cameroon.

The latest in a long list of identity-related issues involves west regional representatives, Volcan du Noun who topped Group B at the ongoing interpools in Yaounde.

Background of the Issue

After their brilliant victory over AS Atlantic of Kribi last Tuesday, Volcan Du Noun have been preparing for their pivotal clash against fellow promotion hopefuls Union Sportive D'Abong Bang programmed for the weekend in Cameroon's Political Capital.

But Krimi FC of Garoua have now filed a complaint before the jurisdictional Chambers of FECAFOOT against Volcan for having falsified the identity of MEFIRE INOUSSA (shirt number 6) for Volcan du Noun who is in reality FOUAPON HASSANE, player of Elite One side Colombe Sportive du Dja et Lobo and under contract with the Cameroon Cup finalist till 2025.

Implications

The implications of this scandal are far-reaching. If After verification of the elements and supporting documents produced by KRIMI FC,  Volcan du Noun is found guilty of wrongdoing, the club could face the full force of article 21 of the disciplinary code of FECAFOOT of July 13, 2021, which if applied could see Volcan eliminated from the National Interpools. 

This effectively extinguishes all chances of Volcan du noun gaining promotion to Elite TWO this season.

The Response

In response to the allegations, the Jurisdictional Chambers of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has initiated an investigation into the matter. This comes amid increasing pressure to enforce strict age verification protocols across all levels of football in Cameroon.

Volcan du Noun FC has yet to make any official statement about the allegations.
